FORD Crew family ticket requests have closed as of Friday, June 23, 2017. If you are unsure if your name was submitted please contact your sailor to verify with their command. Navy League can not verify crew family names- the ship was responsible for maintaining that list.
Ticket Requests to be added to mailing list are no longer being taken. Those on the mailing list be advised that tickets will not be mailed until the week of July 10-14, 2017.
Be advised our database has nearly reached capacity. Therefore a limit of 2 tickets per request in being enforced with an age restriction for this ceremony of 9 years of age.
RECEIVING YOUR TICKETS
Ticket RSVP post cards will begin mailed via USPS on June 22, 2017 from Department of Navy. Do not reply unless you plan to attend. Ticket limit is 2 tickets per household. Minimum age is 9 years old- no child under the age of 9 years will be admitted to pier.
Tickets issued in order of RSVP cards. Ticket packets will contain all parking, maps and security, restricted item information.
Mobility alert- Be advised this pier is a double decker pier so expect steep incline.
Heat Advisory- Please consider there is no shade or air conditioning on pier and we expect extreme temperatures. Light, lose clothing is suggested.
Ceremony viewing restricted to Jumbtron by all seats.
Directions- Commissioning guests will enter Naval Station Norfolk via Gates 2 or 3.
Ceremony will take place on Pier 11 at 10 am. Security screening will begin at 7 am.
ALL guests, upon arrival will be asked to produce: your invitation and a valid Government issued photo identification.
Approved Government issued identifications are as follows:
1. U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card.
2. Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551).
3. Foreign passport that contains a temporary I-551 stamp or temporary I-551 printed notation on a machine-readable immigrant visa.
4. Driver's license or ID card issued by a RealID Act compliant state or outlying possession of the U.S. provided it contains a photograph and biographic information such as name, DOB, gender, height, eye color, and address. NOTE: Licenses or IDs possessing
"NOT APPLICABLE FOR FEDERAL PURPOSES" are not acceptable.
5. School ID card with a photograph.
6. U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card (MMC) or Merchant Mariner's Documents (MMD)
7. Native American Tribal Photo ID cards.

Ship’s Sponsor Luncheon- By Invitation Only
Provides an opportunity to honor the Ship’s Sponsor, Susan Ford Bales. As the tradition states, her spirit and presence will guide the ship throughout its service. Special gifts are presented to the Sponsor and to the ship, represented by the Prospective Commanding Officer.

This event is a tradition that offers guests from the military, business, and political communities, along with family and friends, the opportunity to toast the impending commissioning. The Prospective Commanding Officer and selected guests have an opportunity to thank all those involved. Special guests invited: The Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Navy, Chief of Naval Operations, former cabinet members, and the Ship’s Sponsor.
Saturday Morning- July 22, 2017
Pre-Commissioning Breakfast- This event is limited to Platform guest only due to space and security limitations.
This gathering enables platform guests to be briefed on what to expect during the commissioning ceremony and post-commissioning events. Upon completion, they are transported to the pier for seating.
